SeptemberLate Summer is an ideal time to start getting plants ready for the winter and to plant spring bulbs. It is also the time to enjoy your harvest of fruit and vegetables.

French beans, courgettes, runner beans and tomatoes all need to be picked now or they spoil. Early apples and pears will also be ready. Pick them as soon as they are ready and enjoy them straight away.

Raspberry canes which have finished fruiting should be pruned well down.

September is a great month for planting new trees, plants and shrubs. Visit us to view our extensive ranges and please ask if you don’t see what you are looking for.

Bulbs of spring flowering tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and crocus can all be planted now and through October and November. Always plant in well drained soil.

This is also a good month to reseed any worn patches on your lawn. Small packs of grass seeds which are ideal for repairs are available.

Give your hedges a final trim but no need to feed them at this time of year.
