Planting of evergreen shrubs and conifers needs to be done early in the month. Use plenty of mulch around the evergreens to prevent the soil from freezing.
There’s still time to plant more spring flowering bulbs particularly tulips in borders and containers. Raise containers on pot feet to help drainage and protect from frosts.
Winter bedding plants such as pansies, primula and winter cabbage need to go into your containers along with your bulbs.
