Roses should not be planted if soil is frozen or very wet. They should be kept in a cool, frost free place until conditions are right and roots should never be allowed to dry out.
Before planting prepare the soil to a depth of 18″ and use plenty of compost or well rotted manure. Bone meal is also beneficial at the time of planting.
